Lockhart begins his third year of collegiate coaching after enjoying a stellar career at CSUDH from 2000-01.
Lockhart was named to the 2001 NSCAA NCAA II All-America squad after leading the Toros to the national championship title game. Lockhart led CSUDH with 45 points on 16 goals and 13 assists while tallying six game-winning goals. He was named the 2001 CCAA Player of the Year and also earned a spot on the First Team All-West Region squad.
Lockhart’s name is splattered all over the Toros all-time record book. During his playing days, he broke a 12-year mark with 28 career assists that has since been surpassed by All-American Victor Guerrero, and currently holds the first and third spots for single season assists with 15 (‘00) and 13 (‘01). He ranks third with 45 points in a season, is sixth with 74 career points and shares the sixth spot with 23 career goals. In 2000, Lockhart registered the assist on the game-winning goal in the Toros’ thrilling 2-1 four-overtime win against Barry University in the national championship game.
Prior to CSUDH, Lockhart played two years at Sacramento State where he led the Hornets in scoring his freshman season. As prep, Lockhart was the Desert Valley League MVP twice at Palm Springs HS registering 104 career goals over a four-year span. He was also named to the First Team All-CIF squad in 1996.
In 2002, he played professionally in Malaysia, where he led the league in goals and assists as his DPMMFC team, owned by the Sultan of Brunei, won the league championship.
“Sean is a great addition to our coaching staff,” says Flanagan. “He’s very well rounded and has a great future in coaching.”
Lockhart, who is single and resides in Torrance, also serves as the boy’s varsity assistant coach at South Torrance High School.
